Ellie Hawkes is a northern based artist, whose practice observes natural matter within our landscape. Using digital methods such as photography, printing & scanning, Ellie creates intricate designs using flora foraged locally. Nature is not only used to compose her ideas visually, but also to experiment with textures, colours and shapes.
Her designs respond to seasonal changes and appear three dimensional in form. Circular shapes are a repetitive theme, used to magnify beautiful and unique details within nature. Perspex is used to create the discs which Ellie makes, with translucent qualities enabling light and colour to infiltrate through the artwork.
