Hannah Smith
Hannah Silversmith hand creates contemporary designer jewellery in precious metals and gem stones on a boat on the river Soar in Leicestershire. Trained in Plymouth gaining a HND in Designed metal Work going on to Loughborough University School of Art & Design achieving a Ba(hons) in Silversmithing and Jewellery in 1998. July of 1999 brough a successful application for funding from the Princes’ Trust and since then self- employment designing, manufacturing and selling jewellery.
Each collection of jewellery is concept based, enjoying the narrative aspects of designing, sometimes using historical Artefacts and ideas as influences. Nature is a constant inspiration lending the work an organic look and a tactile quality, exploring the textures and construction of pebbles and rocks, how they are made and the Millennia it has taken to form them. Every piece is unique and has an Assay Office Hallmark to guarantee quality.
Past work has been featured in local newspapers and used to publicise craft fairs I have participated in, the most prestigious being the Victoria and Albert Museum magazine in 2002.
