Paula Kemp

I am an artist based in Staffordshire, specialising in abstract landscape paintings. Through my artwork, my hope is to evoke an emotion, create a connection, or awaken a memory in viewing my work. Working predominantly with oil and cold wax, I explore the interplay between colour, abstraction, and the natural world.
My creative process involves painting intuitively, deliberately veering away from the pursuit of perfection. Instead, I embrace the freedom of applying paint and allowing it to take its own course. Layer by layer, I build up colours, then strip back to reveal the hidden depths beneath, repeating the process until I feel the painting is complete.
My ultimate goal is for the viewer to be immersed in my work, feel energy from it and for the painting to reveal another element each time the work is viewed.
