Peter Gill

My work is an investigation in, and exploration of, structure ,space and landscape.
Starting points include Neolithic Sites, Medieval Cross Slabs and the majestic grit stone edges of the Derbyshire landscape. There also coastal themes which in their own way make reference to the ‘edge’ which is that intriguing space between land and sea.
My ongoing preoccupation and enquiry is conducted by painting and print. Practice includes mixed media construction which, in part aims to mimic the rich surfaces often found in collagraph blocks. to this end I am continuingly drawn to the area of transition between painting and object.
