My early paintings were large and semi-abstract, drawing inspiration from nature, particularly the Berwyn mountains, where my maternal ancestral roots lie, amongst the hill farmers. Portraiture was another interest.
Years were spent working on wildlife conservation internationally and up and down the UK, from Guyana’s rainforest, to Bristol and Glasgow, to Thetford Forest, Northamptonshire and Sherwood Forest.
Derbyshire has become my adopted landscape; I have pushed new roots into the ancient hills and woodlands whilst exploring with my husband and five sons. I now use smaller, more figurative oil paintings to interpret human and animal interaction with the landscape.
