The £200 Longcliffe Award honours a work that references the environment, sponsored by Longcliffe Quarries Ltd who are committed to being carbon neutral by 2030. All exhibiting artists are eligible to enter.

Longcliffe has been part of the Derbyshire landscape since 1927, growing from its original Brassington quarry into one of the UK’s leading producers of high‑grade calcium carbonates and powders. The company’s expansion continued in 2010 with the acquisition of Ryder Point quarry, enabling Longcliffe to supply premium dolomite aggregates to the decorative, construction and concrete industries.

Sustainability has always been central to Longcliffe’s approach. Recognising the need to reduce reliance on non‑renewable energy, the company installed wind turbines across all sites in 2015. This commitment extends to minimising the environmental impact of quarrying and enhancing the natural landscape. Longcliffe actively manages its estates to increase biodiversity, protect habitats and support long‑term ecological health.

In partnership with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Longcliffe has transformed former quarry sites at Ryder Point and Hoe Grange into thriving nature reserves. Hoe Grange, the first dedicated butterfly reserve in Derbyshire, now provides a home for 24 butterfly species and stands as a testament to the company’s dedication to conservation and responsible land stewardship.

Artists can submit 2D or 3D pieces by email by the 25th May. Eight artworks will be shortlisted and exhibited over the weekend of the Trail where an official of Longcliffe Quarries will judge on Saturday 20th June, to choose the winning entry. Don't miss out on your chance to win £200 in prize money. The cash prize will be awarded on Sunday 21st June.

Award entries for 2026 will be displayed here during the trail.
